Dr Sean Harper, Director
Dr Sean Harper is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in NHS Lothian, and has over 16 years experience working across the range of adult mental health problems. Sean is an an accredited Practitioner, Trainer and Supervisor in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). He established and currently leads the South of Scotland training course in cognitive-behavioural therapy. This course, supported by NHS Education for Scotland, was the first of its kind in Scotland. By producing highly skilled cognitive behavioural therapists it supports the provision of evidence-based psychological therapies to people with mental health problems in Scotland and beyond.
Sean has published a number of articles on psychological factors underpinning psychosis. His current clinical and research interests are focused on improving the effectiveness of psychological therapy for people receiving acute psychiatric inpatient care, and he has overseen a number of clinical trials in Edinburgh to evaluate this approach.
Sean is Director of ERICCA's Inpatient Applied Psychology Research Unit.
